We have already seen how robotics has many benefits for the education of the little ones and, also, for the teaching of students with different capacities. But the first step to working with robots is to know how to program them.

It is not difficult for today’s children to find programming interesting because they were born with home computing. In addition to the increasing use of robots and technologies in the day to day is one of the skills that can not be lacking in student curricula. It is the future.

Robots to start gradually

There are different types of programming kits and robots for children to take their first steps in this field. Let’s focus today’s topic, precisely on them.

Kumiita is one of the robots suitable for children between 0 and 3 years, since it teaches the first logical patterns to the baby, although it still does not know to speak. It has a very simple and ergonomic design and through puzzles, children must solve different challenges.

With it they have to order the pictograms until forming a circuit that the robot will travel once it has been placed in the exit box. If it emits a sound, it is that the logical pattern is incorrect and the child has to solve it. The robot moves through the instructions that are in the drawing of the panel and that can be from turn to emit lights and sounds.

There are up to 40 different instructions that include the start and finish tab and tabs of different movements, sounds, animals and instruments among others.

Another of the robots available for the little ones to learn to program is Albert. It is a very simple robot that bears a great resemblance to a penguin with bulging eyes and you can customize (wigs, change the color of your body …).

Lego has always stood out by going a step ahead in the combination of technology and education with fun. The Lego WeDo robotics kit allows you to build up to 12 motor robot models using the attractive blocks pieces: they can be a rescue plane, a lion, a hungry crocodile or a football goalie. When connected to the computer via a USB port can be programmed visually, very simple and intuitive. In the third module, children get into the programming world until the robot is programmed to follow their orders. At the fourth level, new robotics professionals can learn how to build a complex robot and even enroll them in competitions.

Dash and Dot. They are two nice robots, endowed with Martian aspect, with which the children communicate through four free applications. Make basic moves so that the little ones can play with it, like changing lights, recording sounds or composing music with the App Xylo. The battery is recharged very simply, via USB, and lasts for 5 hours.

One of the applications, Path, allows children to construct routes and order different directions for the robot to move or perform certain actions; although without a doubt, the most interesting application to get started in the world of programming is Blocky, which gives the option of being able to program Dash and Dot by means of a puzzle where the already pre-established actions are found, and only have to be combined in a screen of so that the programming is done in a visible way; you can also program your movements creatively without a previous script.
